Railway :     Conducted many dharnas / andolans for better Railway facilities between Mumbai & Kutch from                     time to time


1986                         1st Superfast Express from Mumbai to Gandhidham started


1st October 1987      Rail Roko Andolan for change of timing from 2.30 pm to the original time of 5.15 p.m.                                 The Karyakartas had to bear the brunt of Police Lathi Charge, in which several                                 Karyakartas were seriously injured. The blood shed of KYS karyakartas was not in vain,                                 the Railway Authority had to yield to KYS demand and the timing was changed back to                                 5.15 which was suitable for Kutch passengers as the train would reach Gandhidham                                 nest day at 7.15 am.

6th February 1989    Organised a Dharna at Western Railway Office, Churchgate where a massive crowd of                                 15,000 people had gathered to fight the nuisance caused by short distance Pass                                 Holders to passengers travelling on the Kutch Express Superfast train.


25th January 1990    Meeting of KYS representatives with the Railway Minister, Shri George Fernandes,                                 regarding railway issues of kutch

5th April 1999           Organised a massive Dharna where about 10,000 people represented by around 500                                 organisations got together at Azad Maidan for a second superfast train from Mumbai to                                  Kutch.

23rd March 2000      Conducted a felicitation programme "Railway Abhivadan Samaroh" of Shri Ram Naik                                 (Minister, Oil & Natural Gas), Shri Bangaru Lakshman (State Minister for Railways),                                 Smt.Jayawantiben Mehta (Power Minister) and Shri Dhirubhai Shah (President, Gujarat                                 Assembly) who were instrumental in sanctioning of the 2nd Superfast train from                                 Mumbai to Kutch.

Narmada Waters

· Organised various andolans for Narmada waters to reach Kutch

7th June 1990           Organised a massive "Narmada Samarathan Rally" at Churchgate, Mumbai
1990                         Conducted a "Cycle Rally" from Sardar Sarovar to Narayan Sarovar covering 1100 kms.                                 In Kutch.

13th August 1993      KYS Karyakartas arrested for burning in public a Government notification issued on                                 Narmada Waters which was not in the interest of Kutch.


7th July 1999            Meeting of KYS representatives with "Narmada Nigam" Chairman Shri Bhupendra Sinh                                 Chudasma.

· Drought Relief

1987                          In association with Sarva Seva Sangh conducted drought relief activites
1988                          Organised a big rally in Ghatkopar, Mumbai for funds & material collection
1989                          A Photo Exhibition on drought was organised

· Held dialogues / debate with various Government functionaries from time to time on issues relating to Kutch 11th December 1989 Meeting with Kutch MP, Shri Babubhai Meghji Shah


19th May 1990           Conducted a "Milan Samarambh of Kutchis" with the representatives of Kutch at                                  Railway Playground, Parel, Mumbai. Functioneries present on the occasion were Shri                                  Suresh Mehta (Gujarat Minister for Industries), MPs - Shri Babubhai Meghji Shah, Shri                                  Anant Dave, Shri Raghavji Savla and Kum.Chandrika Kenya, MLAs - Shri tarachand                                  Chedda, Shro Pushpadhan Gadhvi and Shri Parbat Sodham.

16th February 1991   Meeting with Kutch MP, Shri Babubhai Meghji Shah.


8th August 1993        Get-to-gether of Kutchis with Kutch MP, Shri Babubhai Meghji Shah.


16th July 1994           Meeting of KYS representatives with Shri Suresh Mehta, Gujarat Industry Minister at                                  Indian Merchants Chamber.

23rd March 1996       Collected Rs.3 lacs for drought relief by conducting a musical programme.

7th June 1996           Organised in association with various other organisations a "Viraat Kutchi Sammelan"                                  at D'Silva School, Dadar to felicitate the Gujarat Chief Minister, Shri Suresh Mehta who                                  was elected from Kutch.

· Dialogue with Vivekananda Research Instititute
1989                          Collected a corpus of Rs.5.5 lacs for Panjrapoles
1st Aug to                  Under the "Koti Vriksha Abhiyaan" scheme distributed seeds to passengers on board 2nd Sep 1994            Kutch Express daily at Mumbai Central station to bring awareness and sense of                                  responsibility towards nature.

1990                          Under the "Well Recharging" scheme, undertook and completed recharging of 200 wells                                  in 49 villages of Kutch.
